You know the phrase "it's what's on the inside that counts", well Nurse friends those are the FACTS. We have made some nice changes in scrub styles, scrub comfort, and scrub fashion over the past few years. However what else is it that helps us with our confidence & mood to get through our shifts ? I would vote its the undergarments for me !
Nope this is not a thirst trap hahahah !
This is the mood boost that I bet you don't even know to consider in your arsenal. In the winter, what are the best undershirts that you pair under your scrubs ? Which ones are not too warm or constricting ? I Usually have a few white/gray long sleeve staples that I keep in rotation. What are the best sports bras and panties, yep that counts too. The ones that don't ride up, keep you all in place, but not too constrictive. Think about it, we are doing compressions, changing patients positions, walking long hallways, and doing all of the things.
Your self care is measured in the quality of uniform & what really matters is what is on the inside of them
Doesn't matter if you are looking super cute, but hella uncomfortable right ? Kinda defeats the purpose. I just recently did a haul on all of my undergarments. I realized I had been focusing so much on my scrubs, my shoes, and I have totally been neglecting my bare essentials. If I am being honest I only recently started wearing compression socks. I know I know - such a disgrace but nobody really told me how much I've been missing out. That was purely on accident honestly, the socks were a gift and once I started wearing them I haven't looked back.
Self care for nurses looks like caring for us fully. When we feel good, we look good on the inside and out.
So don't settle for cheap scrubs, cheap shoes, or cheap undergarments. Level up the quality that you invest in yourself, so that the quality of care you provide can level up too
So that's my unfiltered self care for Nurses - uncut.
Take care Nurse friends
